During a severe thunderstorm on Thursday, a tourist boat carrying 31 people, including children, capsized on a lake in Missouri resulting in the death of 11 people. 7 were injured while 5 people are still missing. Out of the 7 people injured, two are in critical condition.
KY3 reported that around 7pm, emergency services were called to Table Rock Lake, Stone County, near Branson, Missouri.
The Southern Stone County Fire Protection District has labelled the tragedy a “mass casualty”. “Seven patients [are in] the hospital and we do have some people still missing. So this is going to be an all night, into tomorrow [search],” Stone County Sheriff Doug Rader told reporters about 9.30pm. He also confirmed that some of the dead and injured were children, and five people were still missing.
The identities pf those that drowned have not yet been revealed but it is believed that those that died were as a result of drowning.
